Any House Hunter Fans out there? I wouldn’t say I’m an “avid” watcher by any means, but as a real estate agent, it’s definitely entertaining— Especially since I have experienced the hunt first hand. Have you caught my feature on House Hunters? On season 123 (Talk about a series-binge) episode 9, I helped my buddy, Colby Mann, find the perfect “party pad”— and you thought Chip and Jo were the only HGTV stars in Waco!
Colby was the mastermind behind our 25 minutes of fame. I met him during my time at Baylor University, and he contacted me about possibly buying a house after he graduated. We started looking for the perfect “rustic modern” house, and after he found one that he really liked, a late Saturday night at Scruffy Murphy’s inspired him to apply for the show. About a week later, we got confirmation that they had chosen us to be a part of the “Party in Waco” episode.
While I loved working with the HGTV crew, I have to say, the experience completely changed my mind about reality TV; It’s no joke! The actual filming process is difficult. 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break. You are on your feet the whole time. Every scene was shot three or four times so that they could get it from different angles for the editors. Which is trickier than you’d expect—It was sometimes difficult to remember exactly what was said during each scene for the third and fourth shoot.
All that to say, it was a really fun experience. We took two entire days in June and two entire days in July for the filming of what became a 25-minute episode. The final product was well worth it though, and I have to say, I could get into the show-biz life. After the show aired, I received calls and texts from friends and family that saw the episode and wanted to share their support.
